All right, so today I finally looked.
For a few days I’ve been avoiding looking at my back yard. I just didn’t have the emotional maturity to see the grass ripped up and everything muddier than muddy.
But today, I bucked up and had a good look at what is going on back there.
And the good news is: I see progress.
Still a lot of mud, but getting somewhere.
Here’s a look:
French drain, and fence in the distance.
This next picture shows a bit more of the middle fence.
The area behind that middle fence is where we can stick the dogs when we don’t want them wandering throughout the property. It’s rather large back there–probably half an acre.
Dave is asking the guys to dig a big hole back there where we will put a skate bowl next.
There is plenty of room for all sorts of things back there. I’m voting for a trampoline.
Dave wants livestock.
Maybe we’ll flip a coin.
Any ideas?
The majority of our fruit trees are back there, so we can’t plan to put anything back there that will ruin them. I have great expectations for my young fruit orchard.
Yesterday we had a chipper on site to chip all of the Eucalyptus trees up. See the mountainous piles?
The workers said they found all sorts of exciting things in that pile.
I’d tell you what they said, but talking about centipedes and rats makes me queasy, so I won’t.
The nice, big logs are being kept. We have plans for those.
These are being hauled away to be cut into slabs that we can turn into furniture for our home.
Now that part will be fun.
I just want to make sure you get a good look at our island dirt.
Because island dirt is really red, and thick, and it stains everything.
Go ahead, take another look.
Wait, maybe this will help you get what I’m saying. I snapped an iphone photo of one of the guys as he went by me.
So glad you’re here for us.
Aloha-
Grommom

Oh. My. I would definitely be going to my happy place, and only looking out of the front windows. Just think about how cool it will be once they are done!
