Welcome to The Grommom! If you are a regular guest here, glad you stopped by. For those of you that are new here–Welcome! Today I’m doing something different, and linking up with a bunch of other boy-moms in….
If you’re not familiar with Blog Hops, they are simply a way for us bloggers to link up and share our sites and our stories. This unique hop is hosted by The Mothers of Boys Society, (“MOB Society.”) It is a great chance for moms of boys to discover one another, learn from each other, laugh together, and be inspired. You don’t have to be a blogger to be a part of this! I hope you will all look around at some of the other blogs out there and find some new friends! Just visit the Boy Mom Blog Hop to find out more about it.
Now a few things about me, and this blog of mine…

I live in Hawaii and I am mom to four boys, and wife to Dave, a Doctor by trade, but just another boy at heart. My kids (the older three at least) are all into surfing and skating, and around here we call kids like that “Grommets,” or “groms.” We live on a hill in the country on the North Shore of Oahu, just above some of the best surfing beaches in the world. Please check my About Page to learn a little more about us and our life!
So what do I blog about?
I blog about our Hawaiian life as we live it. From surf contests, to skate boarding, we follow our groms, take their photos and tell stories. I capture as much Hawaiian life and beauty as I can, and send it with Aloha through the internet. I also include some (mostly healthy) cooking, interesting things from our country life, and occasional fitness tips, or home school links. I am a Christian, and so thankful for God’s grace in my life. My faith will come up very naturally in my posts as it is very naturally a part of who I am. I also love style–beach style, grom style, and so on, so occasionally I share style posts which I happen to really enjoy!
Recently I also began a “North Shore Favorites” category where I share some of the things we most highly recommend you do/eat/see if you get the chance to visit this lovely island we call home. (Warning, those who visit NSF often experience intense temptations to make travel plans…)
My boys are ages 13 (as of this Thursday,) 11, 8, and 2. They are all home schooled which means that they are both smart and completely nerdy and un-socialized. Haha. Just kidding. My boys are the most healthy, human, interesting, fun people I know. Smart? I think so. Nerdy and Un-socialized–No way.
My oldest son Josiah is presently in Indonesia on a month-long surf/mission trip:
I was pretty nervous about sending him, but he’s half-way through now, and he is doing incredibly well. He was already an amazing kid, I have a feeling he’ll come back an even more amazing young man.

(That’s Josiah, in our front yard.)
Jonah and Luke are the next two. They are always up to something…
Jonah (the taller one–) starred in a German clothing commercial last winter, and we call him our model. He hates it. I’m crazy about that kid. Luke (in blue) wants to rule the world. In a healthy “leader-kind-of-way.” He is one of the best eight-year-old surfers and skaters around. We can’t wait to see what their future’s hold.

*By the way, in case the first thing you notice is the T-shirts, we happen to know some really cool guys here on the North Shore of Oahu who started this little logo…You can hear more about it HERE.
My baby Levi is now two. He’s an absolutely adorable, terrible two:

My husband and I both were born and raised in the Pacific Northwest, so I will always consider that one of my “homes.” We have been in Hawaii for eleven years now, and feel so thankful for this opportunity to raise our boys in such a special place.
I am excited to join this link-up, and I hope you will take some time to have a look around.
Also, PLEASE leave me a comment and tell me a little about yourself! My favorite part of blogging is all of the amazing people I have met, and the relationships that have been formed here. I hope that you are the next friend I get to know!
Aloha,
The Grommom.

Hi from Scotland! I too am a mum of four boys so our lives must be pretty similar, although I guess yours has a whole lot more sunshine than mine :0)
I also have a homeschooling friend in Hawaai, they live on Kauai and run a surf school.
Looking forward to visiting more of your blog. You can find me at http://lifeinmyhousefulofboys.blogspot.com
Hi there! Stopping by from the bloghop. I’m also a boy mom. I have a two-year-old too. Your boys sound wonderful and you have a beautiful family!
What a gorgeous family!!! I was raised in the PNW as well: on the I-5 corridor…between Olympia and Portland. God’s country – although Hawaii is a lovely place to live as well (which is understating the matter, I’m sure!). Stopping by from MOB. Hello dear sister in Christ
Hopping in from MOB Society to check you out…
Wow- Hawaii well I would say you are living the dream life. What a great way to raise sons, sports that require lots of energy.
I loved getting a caption of what things are like for you. It is not as exciting for us inlanders

I loved reading your post and getting to know your family. Your boys are precious! I have 3 boys and they are very close to the ages of your older 3 (14, 12 & 9). Blessings to you from another MOB. <
I’m a mom to three boys, ages 7, 5, and 10 months. They are adorable but they definitely keep me on my toes. They love the beach – everything from collecting sea shells to boogie boarding. Thanks for hosting.
