SK8 Park: {Style Edition: Bold color, Muscle Shirts, and More, Oh Yeah.}

I hope everyone had a great weekend!

I have a few posts I’m working on, but for now I just thought I’d take you with me on my typical afternoon at the skate park.  You know, just like you’re tagging along.  Because that’s what friends do.
We spend many hours a week at Bonzai Skate Park here on the North Shore of Oahu.  Recently there have been more and more cute, little rippers at the park, (and less not-cute big guys with no shirt/shoes/class.) So it’s been fun hanging out there.

During my many hours at the park, it’s kind of become my personal hobby to spend some time checking out  all of the adorable groms in their super-stylen skate gear.  It makes the time go by…

Check out little Kaiser’s pink hat and colorful pads.  And Makana’s purple shoes…!  These groms know style.

And Luke, sport’en the red with red (good matching this time!)  And…the flannel shirt in the middle of the summer in Hawaii?  (Don’t ask me, I just work here.)

I am all about giving groms the freedom of self-expression.

The fact that I like to sit around and check out what  the groms wear may or may not say something about my spending an excessive amount of time at the skate park.

Have I  become numb to the fact that my eight-year old is dangling horizontally over a 12 foot empty swimming pool?
Perhaps.

I do enjoy the action though.  And I love to embarrass encourage them by yelling things like “Go big or go home Lukey!” which he loves.  NOT.

Once again, I blame the Olympics.  I’ve been a little worked up lately.

It’s so much fun having Josiah back and out skating with us again.
Here he is, stylen in the mellow greys and blacks…while he gets BIG AIR:
I think he wears the teenager thing especially well, don’t you?
Little Levi is itching to get in on the skate action.
(Making his own style statement here:  The classic yellow muscle shirt.  Quick Style tip:  Only wear these if you actually have muscles, AND a tan, or if you’re under three.)
But just carrying this board across the grass is hard work…
A lot harder than it looks, Levi would like you all to know.
Maybe better to sit this one out and watch the big kids.
Oh, I could entertain myself all week with this kid style stuff.  Speaking of style, I have a few real treats coming up later in the week….(Shhh, Don’t tell anyone yet.)
Meanwhile I’ll see you soon with more novel grom news, style updates, and whatever other island-shaking topics I can come up with.
Oh and FYI–I’m linking up with beautiful Carissa today at Miscellany Monday!  Hop over to her site to find all kinds of other great blog posts. :)

I feel a mix of worry and awe while scrolling down your pics.hee I wish I had the same courage to take up skating when I was their age. How long have they taken up the sport?

haha, you and me both! They all started pretty young, and eased into things. Pads and helmet help! I think children are so fearless, which sometimes makes me more worried. Thanks for stopping in!
