Ever since I heard about a little girl named Daisy who was battling cancer, my thoughts have returned to her a thousand times. Daisy Merrick is a darling little California girl, just about the age of my little Luke. When I imagine what it would be like to go through cancer with one of my own children, my heart hurts so much I can’t stand it.
Daisy has been through 6 surgeries, 22 rounds of chemotherapy and 2 courses of radiation, and is now facing cancer for the third time. Daisy’s next steps include chemotherapy and possibly a stem cell transplant with progressive treatments in America and Israel. The estimated cost not covered by insurance will total close to half a million dollars. You can hear much more about Daisy’s story, how you can help, and keep up with all of their latest news at PrayforDaisy.com.

Since Daisy’s grandfather, Al Merrick, is a famous surfboard shaper, and she is known and loved by so many in the surfing community, there is a special event planned in locations all over the country (maybe world) this weekend. It’s called Paddle for Daisy! On Saturday, September 1st at 9 am surfers have organized a Paddle for Daisy event that takes place in many different locations. We have one right here on the North Shore and it’s going to be awesome I know! Visit PaddleForDaisy.com for more information and to see who’s paddling out near you. It should be a really fun event, and a wonderful opportunity to spread the word and help raise support for Daisy’s battle.

Here’s a photo I found at Daisy’s web site. She is in Israel where she is seeing all kinds of doctors and making plans for future treatments. Always smiling.

One of the many ways you can support Daisy is by visiting the HE>i online store and purchasing a Daisy Love T-shirt! All proceeds go to the Pray for Daisy fund!

Of course Daisy and her family appreciate your prayers as much as anything–God knows their needs and will surely walk with them through every step of this battle.
Let’s all enjoy the ones we have, and take time to pray for those that have needs. Amen!?
Aloha–See ya from Maui real soon!
